Similar to the first-leg in Eindhoven, PSV started the game strongly. Renate Jansen should’ve leveled the tie when she faced Eintracht Frankfurt’s goalkeeper Lina Altenburg one-on-one, but Eredivisie Vrouwen’s record top-scorer was unable to guide her shot on target.
However, they did find the net in the 15th minute after yet another excellent buildup play. Summer signing Liz Rijsbergen provided the finishing touch with a clinical strike. It was all PSV in the first 20 minutes as Altenburg had to deny Lore Jacobs before Frankfurt fashioned their first chance of the game.
But that first opportunity was a well-taken strike by the German international Nicole Anyomi. The striker scored with a solo effort to put Frankfurt in front on aggregate as she hit double figures in all competitions.
Frankfurt improved after their goal with fellow German internationals Laura Freigang and Elisa Senß coming close to putting them ahead on the night. PSV’s goalkeeper Nicky Evrard also had to make a decent save from Rebecka Blomqvist’s effort.
However, the visitors also had their moments before the half-time break. Riola Xhemaili, who spent three years in the Frauen-Bundesliga with Freiburg and Wolfsburg, narrowly missed the target with a free header from a corner-kick.
They went into the break with a two-goal deficit, though. Evrard stopped Anyomi’s long-range effort, but the Belgian shot-stopper was beaten by Freigang for the second time in the tie.
The matchwinner in Eindhoven, Remina Chiba, comes on for the second-half in place of Blomqvist. The Japanese midfielder, Erëleta Memeti, and Anyomi had decent chances to kill the tie after the restart.
Of course, it was the latter who ended the tie with a delightful lob in the 78th minute. After beating her previous personal record last term, Anyomi is determined to finally win a trophy with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Frankfurt will face Nordsjælland in the quarter-final of the competition. Both ties will be played in February 2026, with Frankfurt hosting the first-leg. The Danish A-Liga side knocked out Slovenian champions Mura with a 5-0 aggregate scoreline.
