Sport Bild is currently reporting that Eintracht Frankfurt have reached a verbal agreement to sign Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika away from Club Brugge. Not long after concluding a €13m deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Noël Aséko, the Hessen-based Bundesliga club is prepared to shell out another €8-10m for their next summer addition.
Sport Bild makes clear that the Belgian Pro League must first give their consent before Onyedika is permitted to move to the Bundesliga. Both Eintracht and recently relegated Wolfsburg have previously been rebuffed in their previous pursuits of the 25-year-old. last. One assumes that the 26-times-capped international will wish to further his career in Germany, but negotiations are likely to drag on for quite some time.
Onyedika may constitute the perfect complement to the recently signed Aséko. Brugge will still resist attempts to sell their player under value. Onyedika maintains a €23m estimated market value in the latest Transfermarkt listings. Though the player is entering the final year of his contract, his current club will wish to do more than break even on their Onyedika “cash in”.
Brugge paid a reported €9.5m to acquire Onyedika from Football Club Midtjylland in the summer of 2022.
