Eintracht Frankfurt ‘to consider’ bringing Joselu (36) back to the Bundesliga | OneFootball

Eintracht Frankfurt are weighing a reunion with Joselu after Ritsu Doan’s proposed Saudi move collapsed. Sky Germany reports Frankfurt have been in contact with the 36-year-old in recent days and are assessing a return.

Joselu is a free agent after leaving Al-Gharafa in June. Union Berlin have also been linked, while Lazio, Valencia and Sevilla are options. FT says Valencia and Sevilla have tabled offers, and that Frankfurt had not yet made a proposal.

He is said to favour a Bundesliga return.

Eintracht still hope to add an attacker before the window closes. A second loan for Arnaud Kalimuendo was considered after his stint last season. Nottingham Forest are now said to want more than €30m, a club-record outlay that looks harder without the Doan proceeds, so Joselu is a low-cost alternative.

The Stuttgart-born Spanish international first joined Eintracht on loan from Hoffenheim in 2013/14, scoring 14 goals and three assists in 33 games. He later played for Hannover 96, Stoke City, Newcastle United, Espanyol and Real Madrid.

He enjoyed a standout 2023/24 at Madrid, winning La Liga and the Champions League, before joining Al-Gharafa. He was also part of Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph. Across previous spells in Germany, he has 79 Bundesliga appearances, 22 goals and eight assists, and at 36 would be a short-term addition.

Other names linked include Louey Ben Farhat, Esmir Bajraktarevic and Rodrigo Auzmendi, though talks for Ben Farhat have not advanced significantly.
