Arnaud Kalimuendo has barely featured for Nottingham Forest this season after remaining at the City Ground despite Eintracht Frankfurt’s summer interest.

Sport Witness suggests his lack of minutes is drawing Frankfurt’s attention ahead of January, with another loan, possibly with an option or obligation to buy, mooted and the Bundesliga club watching closely.

Frankfurt monitored the 24-year-old after his loan there in the second half of last season, but did not take up a permanent option and instead sought a different fee. Kalimuendo impressed new boss Oliver Glasner in pre-season and stayed.

He has made only two appearances, a late cameo in the opening-day defeat to Leeds United and a Carabao Cup start against the same opponents. He has not played since August.

Whether Frankfurt still need him is unclear given a strong start and healthy goal return. Forest, by contrast, drew another home blank in the 1-0 loss to Coventry City last Saturday, their fourth such shutout this season.

After the window, Adi Hutter said Frankfurt had tried everything to sign him and that the move broke down on the other side. He added he was content to stick with his fit forwards for now.

Glasner had earlier praised Kalimuendo’s pre-season, citing three goals, his work rate, pace and movement, and his ability to cover several attacking roles, even wing-back if required.
