According to Get German Football News, Eintracht Frankfurt are close to signing Lilian Brassier from Rennes and sending Arthur Theate to Bologna as part of their defensive overhaul.
The clubs have agreed terms for Brassier, with Frankfurt expected to pay around €8.5m plus bonuses. The 26-year-old has agreed a long-term deal, and only final details between the clubs remain. Travel and a medical are being arranged.
Theate’s exit is expected to coincide with Brassier’s arrival. Bologna have a full agreement with Frankfurt for an initial loan that includes a €15m purchase option. The 26-year-old has been cleared to undergo his medical.
Theate spent 2021/22 with Bologna before joining Rennes, then moved to Frankfurt in 2024. The left-footed defender was omitted from Adi Hütter’s squad for the opening-round Pokal tie at SC St. Tönis. Frankfurt have since been actively seeking a transfer.
Brassier appears set to fill the left-sided berth in defence. The moves come amid a major rebuild under Hütter, and these developments suggest the overhaul will continue into the final days of the transfer window.
