Freiburg aim to extend their perfect Bundesliga start to four wins when they visit Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, with the hosts buoyed by their first league victory.
According to BuLi News, Freiburg arrive as league leaders. They have won three out of three, scoring 10 and conceding one.
After a 3-3 draw with Union Berlin and a 4-1 defeat to Augsburg, Adi Hütter’s side won 3-1 at Mainz. Can Uzun hit a brace, Jonathan Burkardt also scored, and Noah Atubolu saved Nadiem Amiri’s penalty.
Saturday brings a swift reunion for Atubolu, who left Freiburg for Frankfurt late in the window. Frankfurt have taken points in 12 of the past 13 league meetings, winning last season’s match 2-0 through second-half goals from Fares Chaibi and Jean-Matteo Bahoya.
Jeremiaha Maluze misses out with a hamstring issue, and Nnamdi Collins is a doubt. Ansgar Knauff and former Freiburg man Ritsu Doan are available again, while Chaibi trained individually on Thursday after illness.
Freiburg opened with a 4-1 win over Werder Bremen, edged Paderborn 1-0, then thrashed Borussia Mönchengladbach 5-0 last weekend. Yannik Engelhardt and Igor Matanovic both struck braces before Maximilian Eggestein added a fifth at Europa-Park Stadion.
They have won all six competitive games, scoring 22. Another victory would match the club record of five straight Bundesliga wins, though Freiburg are winless in their last eight against Frankfurt.
Schuster has an almost full squad. Florent Muslija is the only absentee, leaving fierce competition for places.
