Noah Atubolu saved a first-half penalty in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 3-1 win at Mainz 05, setting a Bundesliga record of six consecutive spot-kick saves.

Frankfurt led 1-0 when Raphael Onyedika conceded a penalty for a foul on Sheraldo Becker. Nadiem Amiri, successful with his previous 10, stepped up before the break.

Atubolu went the right way to preserve the lead. Three minutes later Jonathan Burkardt made it 2-0.

The 24-year-old had already reached five in a row with SC Freiburg, then extended the sequence with the first penalty he faced for Frankfurt. He had not encountered another league spot-kick until Saturday.

Earlier saves against André Silva, Florian Wirtz, Kevin Volland and Josip Juranovic took him to the then-record of four, before he denied Romano Schmid at Werder Bremen in September 2025 to reach five.

“He was very correct, then it was difficult for me to really try to unsettle him. I was simply convinced in myself and trusted my abilities and then, thank God, it worked out quite well.” He was speaking to DAZN.

“The turning point was Atubolu’s save,” said Hütter.
