Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt striker Younes Ebnoutalib could be sidelined for a while after suffering a knee injury in their 3-2 loss to VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday.

The new signing was replaced by Jean Bahoya in the 20th minute of the game after he tried to continue after initially going down earlier in the game, following his leg and knee buckling.

Internally, Dino Toppmöller’s side are worried that Ebnoutalib could be sidelined for several months, and the possibility of the knee injury being severe is also not being ruled out.

The 22-year-old only joined die Adler this month from 2.Bundesliga side Elversberg for €8m, and in his debut against Borussia Dortmund, the Frankfurt-born striker had an immediate impact, scoring in the 3-3 draw

How will Frankfurt cope with Ebnoutalib’s absence?

Both Jonathan Burkardt and Michy Batshuayi are still sidelined, and with Ebnoutalib joining them, it will leave fellow winter signing Arnaud Kalimuendo as the only striker option once again

Die Adler have previously been linked with Newcastle striker William Osula, and if Ebnoutalib is out for an extended period, Frankfurt could make another attempt to sign the Danish striker.
