Ebnoutalib faces a spell out after damaging his knee, with Sky Germany reporting he can expect four to six weeks on the sidelines. The cruciate ligament area is not affected.

The 22-year-old was hurt in a challenge with Jeff Chabot during yesterday’s 2-3 defeat against VfB Stuttgart, his second appearance for his boyhood club since joining from SV Elversberg.

After the match, Dino Toppmöller feared a serious injury and said the timeframe was not yet clear.

Bild claims tests showed a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament.

Later, Frankfurt said in a statement that he will miss the next few weeks with an inner ligament injury.
