“Yes, I tried to do my part,” El Shaarawy began, discussing the match and his goal. “I’m happy to have scored my first goal of the season, and in Cremona I provided my first assist. It’s a positive week for me and the team. Whoever comes on must be decisive,” he continued, acknowledging the importance of each player’s contribution.

“Games are often won with substitutions, and the coach pushes us to come on and make the difference.”

Regarding his relationship with Gasperini, El Shaarawy fondly remembered the coach who gave him his Serie A debut: “It’s been 17 years, it’s nice to be reunited with him. He always pushes me to give my all, and I’m happy to have him back.”

Gasperini, who gave El Shaarawy his Serie A debut at Genoa, continues to be an important figure in the player’s career.

When asked about his role in this Roma team, El Shaarawy confirmed that he always feels ready to make a difference, whether as a starter or a substitute: “The coach doesn’t have regular starters; when someone plays, it’s because he sees them do well in training. When you come on, you have to make the right plays, the assists, the goals.”

Moving on to a broader topic, the striker spoke about Roma’s improvements under Gasperini, particularly in attack: “Yes, we’re looking for that a lot in training. The exchanges between attackers, the powerful balls into the box, are things he wants and we’re looking for. With so much quality up front, we need to always be in the box, stop and shoot. We’re working towards that.”

Roma increasingly look like a team capable of dominating and damaging in attack, with a more fluid and direct game. Finally, El Shaarawy addressed his contract situation: “We still have to talk about the renewal; we’ll see what happens.”
