Eliaquim Mangala has joined Bolivia’s Oriente Petrolero on a free, the former Manchester City and France defender signing a one-year deal.

L'Équipe reports that the 34-year-old has been without a club since leaving Estoril in June, and he previously played for Porto, Manchester City, Valencia and Saint-Étienne. Capped eight times by France between 2013 and 2016.

Oriente Petrolero compete in Bolivia’s top flight and finished 12th of 16 last season. The club announced his arrival by sharing a video of him scoring a header for Valencia after outjumping Sergio Busquets, then of Barcelona.

Mangala has not played professionally since his second and final season at Estoril, where he made only nine appearances in 2024-2025.

His last outing was on 19 April, a 0-2 defeat to Braga, in which he played seven minutes.
