AS Monaco academy product Eliesse Ben Seghir (17) is set to sign his first professional contract at the club in the coming hours, according to Foot Mercato.
France U17 international Ben Seghir appeared in the Gambardella Cup for the Monaco youth side last season. His brother, Salim Ben Seghir (19), has already made his professional debut for Ligue 1 rivals Marseille.
Like his brother, Eliesse is an attacking profile and can play either out on the wing or through the middle in the no.10 role. He will become the latest graduate from La Diagonale. Nine academy products have already featured for Monaco in the last two seasons, including Benoît Badiashile (21).
Monaco recently removed their reserve side from the N2 and created an “elite group,” which will allow players to develop by playing matches against some of Europe’s elite. Ben Seghir’s short-term development will likely take place within this side, which will be managed by Damien Perrinelle.
