Eliezer Mayenda’s Sunderland future is under scrutiny after his agent posted from the Stadium of Light with the caption “The Last Dance”, fuelling fresh transfer chatter.

Foot Mercato claims he is expected to leave this summer, with several ambitious European clubs monitoring his situation ahead of the window. The report says his performances and career path have caught the eye after Sunderland secured historic Europa League qualification.

Mayenda joined from Sochaux in 2023 and has made 73 appearances, scoring 12 goals. His breakthrough came in the 2024-25 promotion campaign, when he struck 10 times in 42 outings.

In 2025-26 he featured 23 times in all competitions, scoring twice in the Premier League as Sunderland returned to the top flight with a seventh-place finish. Though not always a starter, his pace, versatility and work-rate offered Régis Le Bris a valuable option.

Sunderland are planning for a significant summer as they prepare for Premier League and Europa League football. Mayenda remains under contract, and if an exit materialises the club would be expected to protect their position having shown a willingness to make firm decisions when the timing suits.
