Elyaz Zidane joins Red Star from Betis Sevilla | OneFootball

Red Star have signed 20-year-old centre-back Elyaz Zidane from Betis Sevilla. The club announced the deal on Saturday. The youngest son of former France captain Zinédine Zidane becomes their latest addition.

The left-footed defender had been with Betis's reserve side in Spain's third tier. He will play in France next season.

Red Star finished fourth in Ligue 2 last season and were knocked out in the pre-play-offs by Rodez, 2-3.

Born in Marseille in December 2005, a few months before his father ended his playing career, he is a France youth international from Under-17 to Under-20. He featured at the most recent Under-20 World Cup, which ended with France in third place.

He is the second of the Zidane siblings to appear in Ligue 2, after elder brother Enzo's brief spell at Rodez. Enzo made 16 appearances in 2021-22 before retiring in 2024, aged 29.
