Nice striker Elye Wahi suffered an ankle sprain and was forced off in the sixth minute on Sunday in Lyon. The player said in a post that he will be out for several weeks.

He was struck on his right ankle after just 15 seconds when Hans Hateboer cleared the ball onto his foot at point-blank range.

In the same message, he described tears of rage and disappointment and said his ambition with OGC Nice is immense. He is focusing on returning as quickly as possible to help the team.

The exact length of his absence has not been disclosed, but it is a significant setback for Nice. Wahi has scored three goals since arriving in early January.

Nice’s medical staff are keeping their counterparts in Frankfurt fully updated. The former France Under-21 forward is on loan without an option to buy and remains under contract there until 2030.
