Elyh Harrison

The 19 year old keeper joined the United academy in 2022 after spells at West Ham United and Stevenage.

He played a key role in the academy winning the Premier League Cup in 2024.

Last season, Harrison was sent on loan to Chester to pick up valuable minutes at senior level and made 18 appearances in all competition for the side.

The keeper took the next step this summer and was sent on loan to Football League side Shrewsbury Town.

Despite being described as “one of the most promising homegrown goalkeepers of his generation”, Harrison has desperately struggled for game time at Croud Meadow.

The 19 year old played six games during August and September, conceding 17 goals in the process.

His last match was on the 20th September though, in a 0-2 defeat to Harrogate Town.

Fierce competition

Since, he has found himself on the bench unable to dislodge Will Brook from a starting spot.

The 22 year old has impressed, winning the club’s Player of the Month award for October.

The Manchester Evening News carries comments from Harrison about his time at the Shrews.

Speaking on his relationship with Brook he claimed, “we’ve got a good relationship. We really push each other. It’s up to the gaffer who starts and it’s never guaranteed but I’m trying to work week in, week out to make sure he keeps his trust in me.”

Harrison will hope to finally be able to overcome this obstacle though as he will need regular minutes if he is to ever gain the chance to play for the United senior team in the future.
