Unai Emery is unsure whether Ollie Watkins will be fit to face former club Brentford this weekend.
The Englishman was substituted off in the first half of Villa’s Europa League clash against RB Salzburg due to a hamstring issue.
Emery said: “Today he had a scan, and it’s not a clear injury. He was tired yesterday and the scan is not giving us bad information.
“We will see tomorrow if he’s not feeling comfortable or if he’s feeling comfortable to decide to be with us on Sunday.”
Villa are certainly going to be without Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn, Youri Tielemans, Andres Garcia and Alysson, as their injury nightmare continues.
However, the Spaniard did confirm that Ross Barkley has returned to team training today and could feature in the matchday squad against Brentford.
Emery refused to comment on the reports currently linking him with the Real Madrid job, but he did confirm the departure of Evan Guessand to Crystal Palace on loan.
The Villa manager said: “I was happy with him. I didn’t want him to leave but I accept it’s a good deal for the club and him.”
