The statistics offer little encouragement. England have not won a World Cup match after falling behind since... the 1966 final against Germany, which ended with the Three Lions’ historic triumph.

Even more worrying, Thomas Tuchel’s men did not attempt a single shot during the first 30 minutes of play. A first for England at the World Cup since... that famous 1966 final!
