Everton secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford last night to pick up much-needed three points.

They had to play much of the game with ten men after Idrissa Gueye was sent off for slapping Michael Keane 13 minutes into the game.

Everton manager David Moyes was delighted after his first win at Old Trafford as a visiting manager in 18 attempts. It was also Everton’s second victory at the ground in 33 years.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s 29th-minute strike was enough to hand the visitors the win, and England manager Thomas Tuchel was in the stadium to watch the game.

The German was spotted speaking with James Garner and Jack Grealish after the game, and the Everton stars will be hoping they did enough to impress him.

Garner provided the assist and was impressive in the middle of the park, having to step up his game after Gueye was red-carded.

Grealish was unable to attack as he would have loved given the man advantage to the hosts, but he still produced an impressive performance.

The attacker has not played for England since last year and will be desperate to make the squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Grealish joined the Toffees on loan from Manchester City in the summer and started his spell with four assists in his opening three league appearances.

His fine form was not enough to earn him a recall to the Three Lions in September and he has been involved in just one goal since then.

He will need to add plenty of goals and assists to his game between now and May if he wants to play for England at the World Cup, and Moyes will be looking to help him achieve his dream.

Garner has never played for England at senior level, but his versatility and regular playing chances could see him force his way into Tuchel’s plans heading into the World Cup.

The 24-year-old has played as a defensive midfielder and at full-back this season, making 12 Premier League appearances.
