The highly-rated young forward faces a spell on the sidelines after dazzling at the Euros
England forward Michelle Agyemang has been ruled out for the season after rupturing her ACL in the Lionesses’ 3-0 win over Australia on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old, currently on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, starred at the Euros this summer with a rash of dazzling cameo appearances, scoring twice and earning the young player of the tournament award as the Lionesses retained their title.
Agyemang went down off the ball shortly after coming off the bench as the Lionesses eased to a friendly win over the ten-player Matildas, and was stretchered off in tears after receiving treatment.
Speaking at full-time, England boss Sarina Wiegman described the injury as “horrible,” but could not confirm its extent, though her worst fears have now been realised.

Agyemang announced the news on her social media channels, writing: "[I'm] disappointed that results show a torn ACL.
“I am so grateful for all the kind words and the support from everyone.
“Recovery starts now, I will be back stronger than before.
“In all things I give thanks to the Most High God, this test will surely turn into a testimony.”
Brighton said in a statement that they will work together with Arsenal to determine a suitable rehabilitation programme.
Agyemang made her professional debut for Arsenal as a 16-year-old in November 2022. A dual-registration spell at Watford in the 2023-24 campaign was also greatly disrupted by injuries.
