Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign a right-sided winger for whom a prospective move to the Premier League is deemed ‘realistic’.
There’s still a gaping hole to be filled in that position in Andoni Iraola’s starting XI following the exit of the legendary Mo Salah, with a few players tried in that role during pre-season but nobody truly making it their own.
The Reds continue to be linked with Paris Saint-Germain teenager Ibrahim Mbaye – with whom personal terms have reportedly been agreed – as one possible option to take the Egyptian’s place in the line-up, and another surprise candidate from the continent has now emerged.
According to a report by Campo, Liverpool are among several Premier League clubs to have joined the transfer race for Midtjylland winger Dario Osorio, who’s also wanted by Everton, Leeds and AC Milan.
The Danish outfit have received ‘several specific inquiries’ about the 22-year-old and are hopeful that a bidding war might ensue so that they’d stand to bank more than their rumoured asking price of 150 million kroner (£17.1m) for the Chile international.
The forward also has admirers from Portugal, Spain and Germany, although a move to either England or Italy is deemed ‘the most realistic’ if he leaves the MCH Arena this month.

Osorio had reportedly been on Liverpool’s radar two summers ago, but will the Reds now make a concrete attempt to sign in the final fortnight of this transfer window?
Having already amassed 117 games for Midtjylland (some of which were in the Europa League) and 25 caps for Chile, the 22-year-old has plenty of high-level experience for a player of his age, and he could represent a sound squad option for Iraola’s side at a most affordable price.
However, with the greatest due respect, he couldn’t be regarded as the top-tier right-sided attacker that we need after the exit of Salah, and nor would he seem to be an upgrade on Federico Chiesa for that role.
A return of 23 goals for his club (roughly one every five games) doesn’t suggest that he’d shoot the lights out for Liverpool if he were to end up at Anfield, and at best he’d be a Plan B for the Reds if the pursuit of Mbaye hits a dead end.
Osorio could seal a Premier League move in the coming months, but we’d be surprised if it’s to Iraola’s side.
