The 25-year-old had been booked in the 82nd minute for dissent after referee Slavko Vincic declined to give him a foul following a midfield contact.

The later incident was more dramatic. Charging into a duel with Pau Cubarsí, he collided head-on and the defender somersaulted to the turf.

Lisandro Martinez and Leandro Paredes were also cautioned in regulation time. Spain had no bookings.
