Enzo Le Fee posted a defiant message after missing a panenka penalty during Sunderland's Premier League defeat at Brentford. According to Sunderland Echo, the midfielder took to Instagram to label it a difficult night and to promise to react and go again.
The miss arrived early in the second half when Sunderland had a chance to level. His clipped effort down the middle was gathered by Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher and the hosts soon took control.
Despite that setback, Le Fee has been among Sunderland's standout performers, quickly becoming a key figure for Régis Le Bris with creativity, technique and control in tight spaces.
Le Bris adopted a supportive tone, insisting responsibility sits with the squad rather than individuals and that the focus should be on learning and responding together.
He also reflected that Brentford were strong, direct and effective in second balls in a difficult venue. Sunderland improved after the break but the energy swung to the hosts and the visitors' levels dipped.
The head coach felt there were too many mismatches, highlighted the importance of duels and composure, and urged acceptance of the defeat before moving forward.
With several key players due back from AFCON in the coming weeks, Sunderland will aim to reset quickly, and Le Fee’s stance suggests focus on the response.
