It is only weeks until January, and Leeds United are expected to be active despite Profit and Sustainability Rules. Enzo Maresca has suggested a January exit for Raheem Sterling cannot be ruled out, which could create an opening.
According to Leedsunited.news, there will be both funds and PSR headroom for business in January. The club have already been exploring targets.
Leeds saw an approach for Como’s Martin Baturina turned down, and are competing with Forest for Josh Mulligan. Last month they were linked with England international Raheem Sterling, with Crystal Palace also in the frame.
Sterling has been omitted from Chelsea’s Premier League and Champions League squads. On Tuesday, Maresca said January is coming and that "anything can happen" with the winger.
Late in the summer Leeds tried for Harry Wilson and Facundo Buonanotte, underlining a need for a creator who can play centrally or wide. Sterling is more of a winger, but he offers proven Premier League output. Whether he could rediscover his peak levels would remain an open question.
