Bild reports that Hertha Berlin are looking to sign a replacement for Haris Tabakovic in the winter transfer window and could look to some Bundesliga veterans.
Tabakovic left the capital for Hoffenheim right at the end of the window, meaning Hertha did not have adequate time to replace the Bosnian international. On top of this, an injury to talisman Fabian Reese meant that Hertha had to rely on Florian Niederlechner up front.
This has resulted in head coach Christian Fiel wanting another striker in the winter, a true goalscorer with a similar profile to Tabakovic.
Former Bayern Munich striker Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting and Anthony Modeste are said to be both of interest to Hertha. Both are available on free transfers having left their clubs in the summer.
However, Hertha will likely have to stretch themselves financially to sign one of them, especially Choupo-Moting. Modeste on the other hand is already ready to join a new club having recently turned down Schalke due to his history with Borussia Dortmund.
Neither has ever played in the 2.Bundesliga, but Modeste especially has a pedigree of scoring regularly in Germany, if we forget about his year in Dortmund.
