Éric Roy has hailed Ludovic Ajorque’s impact ahead of Stade Brestois’s final-day home match against Angers on Sunday at 21:00. The coach linked his side’s survival to the centre-forward’s influence.

As reported by L'Équipe, Roy said he thinks Brest would have gone down without the striker this season.

Brest sit 12th, long since safe, yet are on a run of eight without a win, two draws and six defeats, which has left a sense of unfinished business amid inconsistency. They are 15 points above 17th-placed Nantes, or seven clear of the play-off spot occupied by Nice.

The 32-year-old has eight goals and seven assists in Ligue 1. His tireless pressing is reflected in nine yellow cards, while his defensive work and aerial duels have been valuable.

His future is set to be a summer talking point, with his contract running to June 2027. Before that, he will aim to extend a sequence of goal or assist contributions in each of his last 10 outings at the Stade Francis-Le Blé, six goals and four assists, when Angers visit.
