Erick Pulgar’s future at Flamengo remains unresolved after the midfielder submitted a counter-offer to the club and received no reply. He wants to decide his next step by the end of next week.
According to GE, his representatives believe the board are seeking a solution that suits both sides, but feel the decision cannot be delayed further. Despite outside interest, Pulgar would prefer to stay at Flamengo, where he is settled after four years.
A key issue this window is his release clause, which fell in July to four million euros, about R$ 23 million. Any club can sign the Chilean by agreeing terms with him and paying that sum.
Flamengo renewed his contract in March 2025, extending it to the end of 2027. Before that, it ran only until July this year.
Signed from Fiorentina in July 2022, Pulgar has played 161 times, with six goals and nine assists. He has won two Copas do Brasil, two Libertadores, one Brasileirão, one Supercopa do Brasil and three Cariocas.
Flamengo visit Mirassol on Sunday 16 for the 23rd round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, with kick-off at 18:30 Brasília time at the Maião.
Pulgar received a pay rise and longer deal about a year and a half ago, so revisiting terms again so soon is unusual. Even so, he is a key part of Leonardo Jardim’s side and many argue Flamengo should work to keep him.
