Pulgar awaits Flamengo response next week amid Saudi offers, Monaco interest | OneFootball

Erick Pulgar wants his future settled by next week, with the release clause at US$ four million this window. According to Globo.com, the Flamengo midfielder prioritises a new deal despite offers from Saudi Arabia, including Neom, and interest from Monaco.

Pulgar is under contract until the end of 2027, but the reduced clause makes an exit more attainable. Overseas suitors can reach agreement with the player then notify Flamengo that the clause will be paid, as happened when Zenit signed Gerson in 2025.

Late last month Flamengo offered a one-year extension with a higher clause to avoid losing him now. The 32-year-old rejected that first proposal, lodged a counteroffer and is seeking pay in line with leading squad figures. Fully settled after four years at the club, he is open to earning less than abroad to stay.

Flamengo plan to revisit market business after two matches against Cruzeiro. Pulgar’s camp feel the club are acting properly to find a fair solution, but believe the decision cannot be pushed back further. At 32 he is targeting what could be the last major contract of his career.

A mainstay under Leonardo Jardim and a standout after the World Cup, Pulgar has made 168 appearances since 2022. He has won nine trophies, including the 2022 and 2025 Libertadores, the 2022 and 2024 Copa do Brasil and the 2025 Brasileiro. His previous renewal came in March last year, lifting his salary but still below some midfielders who are not starters.
