Erik Lira to join Monaco if non-EU slot is freed | OneFootball

Monaco have agreed a deal with Cruz Azul for Mexico midfielder Erik Lira, but his arrival depends on a non-EU departure.

According to L'Équipe, the agreement is worth €eight million, plus €three million in bonuses and a 20% sell-on clause. Lira, 26, featured for Mexico at the last World Cup.

The move can proceed only if one of Monaco’s four non-EU players leaves. Folarin Balogun is the closest to an exit, with the club actively seeking a destination.

The situation could also involve Eric Dier, Vanderson or Takumi Minamino, although they are seen as very unlikely to go before Tuesday night.

Separately, Monaco had been preparing a third offer to Frosinone for winger Farès Ghedjemis after a €nine million bid was rejected.
