Rafaela Pimenta – the agent of Erling Haaland – has openly discussed her star clients’ staggering 10-year contract penned at Manchester City in early 2025.
At a time when Haaland was being persistently linked with Real Madrid, Manchester City moved decisively to underline their belief that the Norwegian striker remains central to their long-term sporting identity, regardless of managerial cycles or external interest.
That outlook has been echoed repeatedly in recent months, with Haaland himself speaking candidly about why he committed his future to the Etihad, citing extensive discussions with club executives and belief in the long-term plan rather than any single individual.
With Guardiola contracted until the summer of 2027, City’s hierarchy have consistently framed Haaland as a cornerstone of the project beyond the Catalan’s current deal, while from City’s perspective, the contract has also helped shift the narrative surrounding Haaland’s future.
Commercially and strategically, the agreement has further strengthened City’s position in an era where elite forwards often move clubs every few seasons, However, Haaland’s long-term commitment has been viewed as a statement of intent.
Speaking during a new interview with TNT Sports and Fred Caldeira, agent Rafaela Pimenta opened up on the intent of signing a deal of such magnitude with the then-reigning Premier League champions.
“At that moment – and we’re still the same, nothing has changed – the intention was to show everyone that Haaland has a project, City has a project,” Pimenta explained.
“Our project is a shared one, and together we’re going to reach places, seas never before navigated, and that is our ambition.”
Quizzed on how the idea of signing a 10-year contract for Haaland with City originally came about, Pimenta revealed, “I think we came up with that idea together. I just mentioned to you that I’m going to Trancoso. Ferran [Soriano] goes to Trancoso every year.
“We met to give each other a New Year’s hug at my house and started chatting, and before I knew it, we were practically signing a 10-year contract – subject to the player’s interest, obviously.
“But the idea, I think, was born there on the beach in Trancoso, and from there it just developed.”
Looking ahead, the contract places Manchester City in a position of strength as European giants naturally continue to monitor Erling Haaland’s situation. While clubs could revisit the striker market in future windows, City believe the framework is now firmly in place to resist any pressure.
Ultimately, the deal appears less about closing doors elsewhere and more about aligning ambition. As long as Haaland continues to deliver on the pitch and City remain competitive at the very top, both parties appear committed to seeing just how far their shared project can go.
