Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has filed a complaint against Norwegian Air Shuttle, alleging unauthorised use of his ponytail in promotional material during the World Cup.

According to Verdens Gang, the airline posted a montage placing the striker's hairstyle on one of its aircraft during the tournament, which is said to have triggered the dispute. A hearing is scheduled at Oslo District Court on 9 October.

Haaland's lawyer, Thomas Hagen, said the case concerns Norwegian's unauthorised use of the player's distinctive signs in promoting flight tickets during the football World Cup.

The airline, which has since deleted the post, says it is puzzled and considers the action regrettable. Spokesperson Catharina Solli said they, like much of Norway, backed the national team through spontaneous posts inspired by social media trends.

Norwegian Air Shuttle says it hopes the matter can be settled through reasonable dialogue.
