Joan Garcia’s future is a subject of hot debate in Catalonia as FC Barcelona vie to sign him from cross-town rivals RCD Espanyol by activating his €25 million release clause.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper has so far been coy when it comes to his stance on making the switch to Barça from their bitter enemies.
Reports suggested that Garcia has already made his decision on his next club and that it will either be Barcelona or Newcastle United.
However, according to the latest update on Catalunya Radio’s Tot Costa, the feeling within Espanyol is that Garcia will not pick Barcelona this summer.
In fact, it is further claimed that the feeling has grown stronger in recent hours with the Catalan club growing confident that their rising star will not sign for their bitter rivals.

Barcelona have made the Spaniard their top target and have even sent a contract offer to convince him to join.
However, it appears that those within Espanyol believe that their first-choice shot-stopper will not be moving across town to Spotify Camp Nou.
In that scenario, Garcia could end up signing for Newcastle United, who are also eagerly pursuing his signing before next season.
Further developments awaited, but as things stand, it appears that the goalkeeper might not be arriving at Camp Nou.
