Ethan Mbappé has been banned for three Champions League games after his red card on matchday one. UEFA confirmed the sanction on Monday.

He was dismissed in Lille’s 2-3 defeat against Betis Seville.

The midfielder was shown a red card for elbowing Brazilian defender Natan, an incident picked up by VAR.

Mbappé will miss Lille’s trip to Arsenal on 13 October, then the home game against Galatasaray and the journey to Bodo Glimt.

The younger brother of Kylian Mbappé can return on 25 November, when Bayern Munich visit Pierre-Mauroy.
