Cédric Bakambu opened the scoring for Real Betis against Nottingham Forest this Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in Seville. The Congolese striker found the back of the net in the 15th minute on this opening night of the Europa League. Unfortunately, the Andalusians ultimately had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Cédric Bakambu set the tempo inside the opening quarter of this European clash. The Congo international latched onto a delivery from Antony to beat the English defense and make it 1-0 in the 15th minute. This early breakthrough appeared to put the Verdiblancos firmly on track in their Europa League return.

Nottingham Forest responded swiftly to Betis’s opener. Igor Jesus, the Brazilian forward for the Tricky Trees, leveled the score in the 18th minute after a pass from Morgan Gibbs-White. The same Jesus struck again five minutes later, in the 23rd minute, this time assisted by David Luiz, completely turning the game on its head.

Real Betis showed real character late in the match to avoid defeat. Antony, who had already provided the assist for Bakambu’s goal, turned scorer in the 85th minute. The Brazilian’s strike earned his side a valuable point as they kicked off this new-format Europa League campaign.
