Olympique Lyonnais return to the Europa League on Wednesday against Anderlecht in Brussels, three weeks after dreaming of the Champions League.
Le Progres notes that the competition, in its current format, began in 2009 following the end of the UEFA Cup, which had absorbed the Cup Winners' Cup 10 years earlier.

This will be OL's 75th Europa League match. The club enter the tournament for the eighth time since 2012.
Having not managed to reach the Champions League, OL continue their season in the Europa League.
It remains a relatively new competition in European terms.
