Gian Piero Gasperini and Roma will have to do without January signings Donyell Malen and Robinio Vaz for Thursday’s Europa League tie with VfB Stuttgart, which means there could be an opportunity for Evan Ferguson to impress at centre-forward.
Goal difference is the only factor separating the two sides ahead of kick-off. Both Roma and Stuttgart have won four, lost two and conceded five goals from their first six matches in the competition so far this season. Roma sit in 10th place, with Stuttgart one above them in ninth.
The Giallorossi have strengthened in January with the recruitment of forwards Malen and Vaz, but neither are eligible to feature in the final two matches of the Europa League league phase following their transfers from Aston Villa and Marseille respectively.

That means that Ferguson is in line to lead the Roma attack on Thursday evening. Matias Soule is also expected to come back into the starting line-up in place of Paulo Dybala.
Manu Kone is also likely to keep his place in central midfield and is expected to be partnered by Niccolo Pisilli according to Sky Sport Italia.
Kick-off is due at 20.00 GMT.
