Euskal Herria Txapela final to stage season’s first Real Sociedad v Athletic derby | OneFootball

The Euskal Herria Txapela final will double as the season’s first derby between Real Sociedad and Athletic, to be played at Anoeta on Friday 2 October at 19:00 during LaLiga’s break.

As reported by as.com, the fixture is organised by Euskal Herria Kirola and forms part of the 10th edition of the tournament, which brings together the two Basque clubs who collected the most points from last season’s derbies in the domestic league.

Alongside opportunities for less regulars to build rhythm, internationals on duty for their national teams will not take part. That includes Oyarzabal, Simón, Laporte and Nico Williams with Spain, plus Sucic, Guedes and Kubo.

An official presentation is scheduled at Anoeta on Monday 14, with institutional representatives from both clubs expected to attend.

The occasion will also pay tribute to Mikel Etxarri, former Real and Euskadi national team coach, recognising his contribution as a coach and educator within Basque football.
