Eustáquio “proud” of Canada: “At last we're a footballing nation”

At the end of the Round of 16 match between Canada and Morocco, in which the Canadian national team was beaten 3-0 and knocked out of the World Cup, Stephen Eustáquio highlighted his side’s “incredible” performance. “I’m very proud. I think we stood out and everyone is very proud. We felt we could have won because of the first half. We were fighting... but, in the end, we created little,” said the FC Porto midfielder, who had been on loan at Los Angeles FC since January.

“We’re grateful for everything; the team gave everything it had to give. We felt a lot of love from Canadians. We are finally a football country. The younger ones need that support for the next four years,” concluded the Canadian captain.
