Evann Guessand has rejoined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan from Aston Villa, with a conditional obligation to buy.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 25-year-old spent the second half of last season at Selhurst Park. He helped Palace win the UEFA Conference League in May.

The Ivory Coast forward joined Villa in August last year for £26 million but struggled for form under Unai Emery, scoring two in 21 outings before moving on loan in January. He then made 14 appearances for Palace and scored twice, though an obligation to buy was not triggered.

He made two substitute appearances for Ivory Coast at this summer’s World Cup, then returned for Villa’s pre-season. He was included in their Far East tour and played against Indonesia All Stars, BG Pathum and Bayern Munich, but struggled to make an impression.

On returning to Palace, Guessand said he was delighted to be back, that he already has fond memories, and that he hopes for many more.

Raised in Marseille, he had spells with Lausanne-Sport and Nantes before a 2024/25 breakthrough at Nice, scoring 12 goals and winning the club’s Player of the Season award. He is under contract at Villa until 2030.
