Even on his honeymoon! Bayern star Davies can’t go without soccer | OneFootball

For once, Alphonso Davies doesn’t have a packed schedule during the current international break. In consultation with the Canadian national team, the Bayern star has decided to sit out the upcoming international matches and is instead catching up on his honeymoon with his wife, Sheyenne.

Still, it seems the 25-year-old can’t go entirely without soccer. This is evident in a video his wife posted on Instagram.

At the beginning of the clip, Sheyenne is relaxing and enjoying her vacation on the beach. But the peace and quiet doesn’t last long: Suddenly, Davies comes dashing into the frame from the side with a soccer ball and dribbles across the white sandy beach.

The scene is sure to bring a smile to the faces of many Bayern fans. Even during his honeymoon, Davies doesn’t seem able to put the ball completely aside.

The fact that the left-back currently has the opportunity to take a longer trip with his wife at all is due to a special arrangement. Davies got married near Paris at the end of July. At the time, however, there was no time for an extended honeymoon due to preparations for the new season.

During the current XXL international break, the Canadian now has the opportunity to make up for lost time. National team coach Jesse Marsch deliberately chose not to call up his captain for the matches against Chile, Peru, and the U.S.

“However, I felt it was important for him to first enjoy his honeymoon while also working on his physical condition and fitness,” Marsch explained regarding the unusual decision.

FC Bayern also supports the special arrangement. Executive Board Chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen even described the Canadian federation’s decision to grant him time off as a “nice gesture” in an interview with BILD.

Davies had gone through a difficult period following a serious muscle injury in the spring. His participation in the World Cup was at one point in doubt; ultimately, he made only a brief appearance in the tournament. Instead of taking a longer vacation, the left-back subsequently worked on his fitness in Munich.

Davies is now fully back and has played in every Bayern competitive match so far this season. The current break therefore offers him the rare opportunity to combine physical recovery with his honeymoon.

Although “break” is apparently a relative term for Davies. In any case, his wife’s Instagram video shows that even amid the sun, beach, and sea, soccer isn’t far from the Bayern star’s mind.
