América responded to the disappointment of docked points by beating Pachuca on Saturday night.
Scorers: SĂĄnchez 29âČ, Aquina 42âČ
The Azulcrema beat Atlas 2-0 on the road last weekend, only to subsequently have the points stripped from them for âimproper alignmentâ.
There was no hangover from that setback, however, with Richard SĂĄnchezâs magnificent lob from almost the half-way line putting them 1-0 up at the Estadio Azteca.
SĂĄnchez then turned provider as his perfectly flighted free-kick found midfield partner Pedro Aquino who directed a lovely header to the net.
Las Ăguilas were able to cruise thereafter against the basement side so far in Guard1anes 2021.
The night would end on a sour note for the hosts, though, with SĂĄnchez sent off on in the dying minutes.
The three points put América one point ahead of Cruz Azul, but their Mexico City rivals are in action later on Saturday away to León.
