Everton Women will be without club captain Megan Finnigan for an even longer period of time with the news that the player will need surgery as she recovers from injury.
The defender, who has been at the club since the age of nine, was injured 10 minutes into the Toffees' 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur back in January.
It is unlikely that the player will return until at least a year after her injury after manager Brian Sørensen's latest update.
Finnigan is recovering from an ACL injury and will now need surgery to aid her recovery with the 27-year-old ruled out until at least early 2026.
Everton will be able to welcome Kelly Gago back to the fold for Sunday's game at home to Manchester United at Hill Dickinson Stadium after the French forward recovered from a concussion.
