Everton could be set for another sell-on boost to the club’s finances as interest grows in former forward Youssef Chermiti.
The 22-year-old is attracting interest from around Europe after scoring 15 goals in 41 games for Rangers last season.
His campaign included a derby double against Celtic, featuring an outstanding overhead kick, and a hat-trick against title challengers Hearts.
Lyon are understood to be preparing an offer of around £17m, though that fee falls short of the Scottish Premiership side’s £25m valuation. Galatasaray, FC Porto and Besiktas have also been linked. A £25m fee would represent a record sale for Rangers, eclipsing the £20m figure that took Calvin Bassey to Ajax in 2022.
Rangers’ demand for a high fee is in part due to Everton’s entitlement to a percentage of their profit.
Everton sold Chermiti to Rangers last summer for an initial £8m and included a ‘significant sell-on’ clause in the deal, according to The Athletic. The Portuguese forward had struggled to make an impact with the Blues, failing to score in 25 first-team appearances.
Should Chermiti leave Ibrox and Everton are paid a sell-on fee, it would be the second sum received this summer. The Toffees are understood to have pocketed between £3.6m and £4.3m from Anthony Gordon’s transfer from Newcastle United to Barcelona.

Hopefully not another one to bite us in the arse.
He was highly regarded at Sporting and started to look like the penny had finally dropped at Rangers, he's got the build and power not that we saw much of that with injuries and lack of chances.
We'll probably end up bidding £40M for him next season. 😆

A fellow Blue who lives in Dumfries tells me that he's still not quite at the level required of an Everton player, although he has clearly evolved in his time up there.
As with everything in this world, I suppose it would depend on the price, but it clearly is a chance that should not be shrugged at. Perhaps Barry could make the reverse trip, as a make-weight, on a season-long loan?

Did we also get the £2 million in add ons?

Yeah, Kevin @2.
I would've liked to see how Thelwell did with a better budget and not having to sell his arse to bring in Ashley Young and Andros Townsend at the end of their careers.

We should have kept Youssef Chermiti and not bought Barry, who was definitely not my choice!
Moving on, I would still like to see Troy Parrott snapped up, I think he would be a great fit for Everton. We should sell Barry but not at a loss, as the club have said.
Maeda would be a good buy, someone who Moyes likes, he can play out wide, as a 9, and at midfield, and scores goals which we sorely needed.
Him and Dibling for the right, George and Ndiaye for the left! Simples, 🏴😉💙⚽

David @3: ' he's still not quite at the level required of an Everton player'.
Seeing as though there has been no trophy for 31 years, and seem to be stuck with a dated negative manager, I'm intrigued what level that is.

I always thought Chermiti had something and was worth developing.
For his first half-season at Rangers the fans there thought he was a disaster, but he grew and flourished eventually.

Kevin (2), I agree 100% with you about Kevin Thelwel. He was brought in as the Footballing Director just as the club was descending into the chaos of the final days of the Moshiri regime. He quickly had to don the role of a fire-fighter - trying to reduce costs and be compliant with the obscure PSR rules, and having to patch up a squad plagued by injuries to Calvert-Lewin, Branthwaite, Yerry Mina, Coleman, etc.
Many of his buys can be considered as positive given the context of the financial position that Everton were in those dark days: Tarkowski, McNeil, James Garner, Amadou Onana, the return of Gana Gueye, Iliman Ndiaye, Jack O'Brien, Tim Iroegbunam have all contributed to Everton's survival in the Premier League.
Then there were players who he signed who, while they did not contribute greatly to the club, weren't too bad either. Players like: Chermiti, Beto, Jack Harrison, Ashley Young, Orel Mangala, Charlie Alcaraz, etc
The really poor signings which didn't work out at all for Everton were relatively few - Neil Maupay, the loans of Danjuma, Broja and Lindstrom.
Overall, I think TFG made a major blunder in removing him. I don't see the present incumbents doing anything great in the recruitment department. It has been mostly unimaginative and uninspiring signings so far. Hopefully, they pull a few rabbits out of the hat.

so with the sell on fee from him the the sell on fee from Gordon to Barca, The club now have Moyes compensation so sack him and give the club the opportunity to have ambition !!!
