In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Everton have set their sights on Ferencvaros winger Adama Traore. It has been mentioned that the Toffees are hoping to acquire the services of the Mali international as Frank Lampard looks to bolster his attack next year.

Traore’s Impressive Form In The Champions League Last Season

Traore caught the eye with his performances with his former club, FC Sheriff last season. He performed well for them in the UEFA Champions League, scoring two goals and grabbing one assist in six matches in the previous campaign.

The Mali sensation proved his worth as a reliable performer as he averaged 1.8 shots and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Champions League football. However, Traore needs to work on improving his ball distribution after making 73.2% of his attempted passes in European football (stats via whoscored).

His current deal with Ferencvaros is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Thus, it won’t be easy for Everton to snap him up on the cheap this winter or at the end of this campaign.

What Will Traore Add To Everton Head Coach Frank Lampard’s Team?

Traore can use his quickness to complete some dangerous dribbles with the ball on the attacking end of the pitch. He can strike the ball with power and precision from long range and can cause a few problems for the opposition defenders. However, Traore has to figure out a way to improve his link-up play deep inside the opponent’s half.

The Mali talent is primarily a right-sided wide player but can even operate as a left-winger or as a centre-forward up top. His versatility and goal threat makes him a good choice for Everton to pursue this January. We can expect Traore to add more pace and goals to Frank Lampard‘s frontline at Goodison Park as long as he can make a smooth transition to life at Merseyside.

The Ferencvaros star is good enough to compete for a regular spot at the Merseyside club. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physical nature and high intensity of English football if Lampard can devise a way to get him on board in the future.

At 27, Traore is currently enjoying the peak stage of his playing career and will only improve as a footballer over the next few years. Hence, the Toffees should prioritize on getting a deal over the line for him during the winter transfer period.
