Everton drew 1-1 with West Ham United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last night.

David Moyes’ side will be disappointed that they could not secure all three points.

The Toffees will be equally disappointed after midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall picked up a fifth yellow card of the season.

Dewsbury-Hall was adjudged to have brought down Kyle Walker-Peters, but the Everton man clearly won the ball.

It was the second contentious yellow card he had received after picking up a booking in the Merseyside derby for taking a quick free-kick, although there might have been dissent involved.

Dewsbury-Hall was clearly unhappy that he would miss Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace and hit out.

The former Chelsea and Leicester City star said (via X): “Forgive me if I’m wrong, and I might be, but some of these decisions are so hard to take. Mind-boggling.”

Everton will now have to adjust without Dewsbury-Hall as they prepare for what is already shaping up to be a crucial clash with Palace.

It will be intriguing to see which one of Tyler Dibling or Carlos Alcaraz Moyes calls upon to deputise for the 27-year-old.

Signed for big money, Dibling has struggled to get going in Merseyside but might benefit from a more central role.

Alcaraz, the more dogged and experienced option, is also available.

The Toffees must be wary of the Eagles, who are on a remarkable 18-game unbeaten run.

Palace have won the FA Cup and the Community Shield during that impressive run. They are hard as nails and a complex puzzle to unravel.
