Leeds United expect to confirm their first summer signing shortly, with free agent Harry Wilson still on course despite a delay. He is set to join Daniel Farke’s squad for next season as Elland Road chiefs continue to strengthen.
The Athletic reports that David Moyes’ Everton have identified former Leeds loanee Djed Spence as a right-back option, with Seamus Coleman departing and Nathan Patterson attracting interest. Arsenal’s ex-Leeds loanee Ben White is liked on Merseyside.
Spence spent the first half of 2023/24 on loan at Leeds before a break clause ended his spell after seven appearances. He has since revived his career at Tottenham and featured in England’s 3-2 World Cup last-16 win over Mexico at Azteca.
Sky Sports says Ipswich Town are close to signing Toulouse striker Emersonn in a deal worth €31million, £26.6m, including add-ons, with a medical planned. Newly-promoted Hull City were also keen but are set to miss out.
Emersonn, 21, recorded six goals and two assists in 27 Ligue 1 games alongside Charlie Cresswell last season. Ipswich and Hull aim to mirror Leeds’ survival, while Leeds recruited older last summer, the youngest then-25-year-old Noah Okafor.
BBC Sport reports Callum Wilson is in advanced talks to join Brentford on a 12-month deal after leaving relegated West Ham, having scored seven in 32 league games. The former Newcastle and Bournemouth striker would compete with Igor Thiago, while Jaidon Anthony is due to arrive after a £20m agreement with Burnley. Brentford visit Elland Road on Saturday August 29.
