Sean Dyche returns to Everton for the first time since his departure in January. He leads a buoyant Nottingham Forest side to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Toffees enter the contest with renewed optimism. They snapped a winless run with a gritty 1-0 victory at Bournemouth on Tuesday. David Moyes’ side sit 10th in the table but will be wary of their patchy home form. Conversely, Forest are finding their stride under their new manager.
The Tricky Trees secured a 1-0 win over Wolves midweek thanks to Igor Jesus. Consequently, they have won three of their last four Premier League games. Furthermore, they are aiming to become the first team since 2008 to win away at both Merseyside clubs in consecutive campaigns.
David Moyes faces a midfield selection crisis. Key anchor Idrissa Gana Gueye serves the final game of his suspension. In addition, Tim Iroegbunam is also banned after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. Therefore, playmaker Charly Alcaraz could be asked to drop deeper. Defensively, Michael Keane has joined Jarrad Branthwaite and Nathan Patterson on the injury list. However, Jack Grealish is fit and expected to start after his winner against Bournemouth.
Sean Dyche has a relatively settled side but will be forced into at least one change if Murillo fails to recover from a knock. If he misses out, Morato is expected to deputise in central defence. Meanwhile, talisman Morgan Gibbs-White is set to start in the number 10 role despite managing a back issue. Winger Dilane Bakwa returned to action with the B team but is unlikely to start.
The Toffees have struggled for consistency at their new ground. In fact, they lost two of their last three home games by a margin of three or more goals. Their lack of cutting edge is a major concern, as no side has had fewer shots on target this season. However, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is in good form at home. Everton have also lost just two of their last 11 meetings with Forest.
Forest arrive on Merseyside with a point to prove. Since beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield, they have tightened up defensively on the road. Notably, they have won their last two away league games by an aggregate score of 4-0. Furthermore, they are unbeaten in Saturday 3pm kick-offs this season.
Everton predicted XI: Pickford; Garner, O’Brien, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Dewsbury-Hall, Alcaraz; Ndiaye, McNeil, Grealish; Barry
Nottingham Forest predicted XI: Sels; Savona, Milenković, Morato, Williams; Sangaré, Anderson; Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Jesus
