Everton want to bring Manchester United striker Ethan Wheatley to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Everton manager David Moyes wants to strengthen the Toffees’ attack and the Blues have been linked with Chelsea striker Liam Delap.

Wheatley has now emerged as an option for the Merseyside club as he is not in the plans of Man United manager Michael Carrick.

Everton are already preparing a proposal to make a formal approach for the 20-year-old Red Devils academy graduate.

Wheatley has made four appearances for the Old Trafford club, but he is surplus to requirements.

The Everton target spent last season on loan in League One with Northampton Town and Bradford City, making 36 appearances across both spells.

He was in League Two with Walsall in 2024-25 and a move to prove himself in the Premier League could appeal to him.

The England youth international was Man United’s Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year in 2023-04 after impressing with the under-18s.

Wheatley won the under-18 Premier League North title and under-18 Premier League Cup final that season.

The Stockport-born striker will now look to prove himself elsewhere after failing to break into the Man United first-team.

Moyes reckons he has what it takes to become a top striker in the English top-flight, and a deal could be wrapped up soon.

The Red Devils are open to letting some of their youngsters leave this summer, and Wheatley has played his last game for his childhood club from the look of things.

He was not part of Man United’s travelling squad for today’s Snapdragon Cup fixture against Atletico Madrid and an exit is surely on the cards.
