Everton have shown an interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline, according to The Telegraph.

Everton manager David Moyes wants the Toffees to strengthen in the middle of the park, and Sarr could be brought to the Hill Dickinson Stadium club.

The Spurs midfielder has the green light to leave the North London club, and the Blues will face stiff competition for his services.

Nottingham Forest and Besiktas also want Sarr, and more suitors could emerge ahead of the transfer deadline.

Sarr missed Tottenham’s opening game of the new Premier League season due to a knock and was not available for their midweek Carabao Cup game.

He is currently behind summer signings Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes in Roberto De Zerbi’s pecking order.

Conor Gallagher, Rodrigo Bentancur and Archie Gray are also options for the Lilywhites, which is why they are open to sanctioning Sarr’s exit.

Everton could do with such a midfielder and he is currently valued at £35 million.

Crystal Palace, Brentford and AS Monaco are also monitoring the 23-year-old, and remaining in the Premier League could appeal to him.

Spurs have Toffees attacker Iliman Ndiaye on their radar, and while Richarlison could return to Everton in a swap deal, the Merseyside club could prefer to have Sarr in exchange.

The two clubs will be expected to hold talks in the coming days and more departures and arrivals could be on the cards from both sides.
