Everton travel to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday looking to open a Premier League season with back-to-back wins for the first time since 2020-21, having beaten Crystal Palace 2-0 before a 4-0 win over Preston North End in the Carabao Cup in midweek. David Moyes’ side have scored six goals and conceded none across those two matches.
Tim Iroegbunam is ruled out for several weeks with an adductor strain. Christian Norgaard is a doubt with an unspecified fitness issue and will be assessed before kick-off. Hayden Hackney, who missed the Carabao Cup win over Preston with a knock, is expected to be available again, while James Garner, who deputised in that game after recovering from summer hernia surgery, is pushing to retain his place alongside him.
Jordan Pickford is set to continue in goal behind a back four of Merlin Rohl, James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite and Vitaliy Mykolenko, with Rohl the more consistently favoured option at right-back over Jake O’Brien.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is expected to continue in the number 10 role, having scored more Premier League goals than any other Everton player since the start of last season. Thierno Barry, who has scored four goals in his opening two matches including a hat-trick against Preston, is set to lead the line again, with Iliman Ndiaye and Tyrique George providing support from wide areas.
Everton possible starting XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Rohl, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Garner, Hackney; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, George; Barry
The Premier League match kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
